Telugu cinema workers have been on strike for the past eight days, demanding higher wages. Reports claimed that South superstar Chiranjeevi met with the workers and assured them of changes. However, Chiranjeevi has now dismissed these claims as baseless. The actor clarified that he has not met any workers.

Chiranjeevi addressed the rumors on his official X account (formerly Twitter), stating:

It has come to my notice that a few people, who claim to be members of the Film Federation, are falsely telling the media that I have met them and assured them that their 30% salary hike demand and others will be accepted, and that I will soon start shooting. I want to clarify that I have not met any such federation members. This is an industry-level issue, and no single individual, including myself, can resolve it through unilateral assurances.

He further stated that the Film Chamber is the supreme body of the Telugu film industry, and only collective discussions with all stakeholders can lead to a fair resolution. Until then, such false claims are unacceptable. He strongly condemned all baseless and misleading statements intended to create confusion among stakeholders.

What is the issue?

The Telugu Film Workers’ Federation has been on strike since the first week of August, demanding a 30% salary increase. This has halted all Telugu film shootings. Workers insist they will not resume work unless their demands are met.

Negotiations between the Telugu Film Chamber, Producers Council, and Workers’ Federation regarding salary hikes have been ongoing for several months. However, no agreement has been reached despite prolonged discussions.
