Police have arrested two people in connection with assaulting and killing former Union Parishad member Babul Hossain in front of his wife in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka district yesterday.
The arrestees are Anik, 28, and Shayan, 22.
They were arrested in separate raids in the Kulla area of Dhamrai and Singair upazila of Manikganj this afternoon (22 February), said Dhamrai Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Monirul Islam.
“Babul Hossain’s wife Yasmin has filed a case with the police station naming 14 people, including the two arrestees,” the OC added.
Yesterday, while Babul Hossain was working on a field in Kulla union of Dhamrai, a group of people attacked him with sharp weapons in front of his wife.
When he was rescued and taken to Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, doctors declared him dead.
Police said they suspect that the murder may have been committed due to a dispute over land.
